Govt Jobs :Indian Post Recruitment For 2014 (8243 Vacancies) Across India

India Post (Indian Postal Circle) will hold Postal Assistant / sorting Assistant Examination - 2014 for direct recruitment of Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants/Postal Assistants (Savings Bank Control Organization)/Postal Assistants (Foreign Post Organization)/Postal Assistants (Returned Letter Offices)/Postal Assistants (Mail Motor Services) And Postal Assistants (Circle And Regional Offices) for the year 2013-2014 in 22 Postal Circles in the Country – for filling up Total 8243 Vacancies. Online Registration start from 26th February 2014 to 27th March 2014.

Age Relaxation: 5 Years for SCs / STs; 3 Years for OBCs; Physically Handicapped - PH+ Unreserved 10 years, In regard to PH+SC/ST 15 years, In regard to PH+OBC 13 years. Ex-serviceman - 3 years after deduction of service rendered in military from the actual age as on the closing date for Online Registration of applications. Serving Govt. Employees - Upto 40 years.

Educational Qualifications: 10+2 / 12th class pass from a recognized university or Board of School Education or Board of Secondary Education with English as a compulsory subject (excluding vocational streams). Local Language also required.

Selection Process: Written Examination (Paper-I -Aptitude Test; Paper-II - Computer/ Typing Test)

Aptitude Test - The Test will be comprising four parts (Part A, B, C & D). The duration of the Aptitude Test will be for 2 hours (120 minutes). There is no negative marking.

Part 'A'
25 Questions on General Knowledge - Questions on current events, sports, history, geography, basic economics, general politics, Indian Constitution, Science environment etc (25 marks).

Part 'B'
25 Questions on Mathematics of matriculation standard which may cover number system, simplification, decimals, corrections, simple and compound interest, percentage, average, profit and loss, discount, menstruation, Time & work and time & distance etc. (25 Marks)

Part 'C'
25 questions on English covering grammar (prepositions, adverbs, conjunction, direct/indirect speech, singular & plural, tenses, antonyms/synonyms etc. (25 Marks)

Part 'D'
25 Questions on Reasoning and analytical Ability. (25 marks)

Computer / Typing Test

The typing test will be for a duration of 30 minutes ( 15 minutes for typing and 15 minutes for data entry) consisting one passage of 450 words in English OR 375 words in Hindi to be typed with a minimum speed of 30 words per minute or 25 words per minute respectively. Test in Data entry will be of some figures and letters each carrying equal marks on computer . The above test will be conducted on Computer Key board, but not on a typewriter.

Application Fee: The Cost of Application Form Registration is Rs. 100 for all categories of applicants who have registered.

Exam Fee: Rs.400/- only for General and OBC Category Candidates. No fee for SC / ST / Physically Handicapped / Women Candidates.

Two additional attempts for UPSC's civil services exams


Those aspiring for the civil services can now make two 
additional attempts at clearing the prestigious exam and can try till they are 32.

In good news for lakhs of aspirants, the government has decided to allow more attempts for the exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission, from this year. 

Currently, a candidate is allowed a maximum of four attempts, till they are 30. There is no such limit on candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories. Candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes get seven attempts.

The government's decision will impact candidates who have exhausted six attempts before 30 years of age. This year's exams are scheduled to be held in August. 

The Civil Service Examinations is conducted for the selection of officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) among others. 

The examinations are conducted in three stages-- preliminary, mains and interview.

The upper age limit is relaxable up to a maximum of five years for candidates belonging to SCs or STs categories and up to a maximum of three years for candidates of OBC category among others.

The upper age limit is also relaxable upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989. It can also be relaxed for the disabled
